About ECEG

From 1999 to 2007, the East / Central Europe Research Group at the Institute of Anthropology, Copenhagen University, was a group of teachers and students who had done (or were planning) fieldwork in the post-socialist societies from East Germany to Mongolia, from the Siberian Arctic to Central Asia.

The Research Group held informal meetings about once a month, where we discussed ongoing projects, recounted fieldwork experiences etc. The group also arranged regular lectures on the anthropology of post-socialism.

The group's purpose was to strengthen and stimulate research in this field. It participated in a wider, partly formalized Nordic and East European network (NECEN) of students and researchers with an interest in the region.

For more information, see the full description of the group, which includes a short history of the group, a list of group members, and an overview of our activities and plans.
