The Fourth Nordic Conference on the Anthropology of Post-Socialism

Anthropological Perspectives on
New Social and Cultural Divisions in East / Central Europe

Copenhagen, Denmark, April 20-22 2002

Travel and Accomodation

The conference was originally planned to take place in the small coastal town of Kalundborg, about one hour West of Copenhagen. Because of the changed budget situation (click here for details), we have however been forced to move the conference to Copenhagen, where the Institute of Anthropology has kindly allowed us to use its premises free of cost.

Most participants will arrive in Copenhagen on April 19th, and will be lodged in private homes. Participants arriving from abroad will be met at the airport, if other arrangements have not been made.

A few participants will be lodged at a youth hostel in Copenhagen, with the following address:

Address: Struenseegade 7, 2200 KÝbenhavn N
Telephone: 35 35 46 48

Participants will be contacted individually and given information about where they will be lodged.

The conference itself starts on Saturday April 20th at 09.00. (Click here to see the revised program.) The conference address is:

Institute of Anthropology
Frederiksholms kanal 4
DK-1220 Copenhagen K

The conference ends at 18.00 on Monday April 22nd, after which we will go our separate ways. It is possible to take the train on directly from Copenhagen to the airport, and participants from abroad may want to fly home that evening. A number of participants will stay on until the next day, and catch planes home on the 23rd.

A number of participants will be asked to attend the meeting at the Institute of Anthropology in Copenhagen on April 23rd. These will be supplied with accomodation for one night by us. (See the conference program.)

We will supply accomodation for one night in Copenhagen for those participants who are unable to get a plane home on the 22nd.

Other participants who wish to stay on in Copenhagen must pay for their own accomodation. To see information about options for accomodation in Copenhagen, please click here.
